Theatreworks: Our live, in-person celebration of New Works is back!

Join us at the stunning Montalvo Arts Center for our 19th New Works Festival! It’s in our DNA at TheatreWorks to gather our friends and family and build community around the creation of new plays for the American theatre. Plays that celebrate the human condition – stories that build understanding, that entertain, that take us to new surroundings, new emotions, and new heights! Sweet Thursday Author Series - Thursday, Oct 6 @ 7pm

Sweet Thursday Author Series is offering on October 6 at 7 p.m. in-person in the Don Tatzin Community Hall at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center Debbie Chinn author of “Dancing in Their Light.” She will give us a glimpse into growing up first generation Chinese American in the world of impeccable hospitality, fine dining, and live entertainment in the restaurant/nightclub business during the 1960s. Doors open at 6:45 for coffee and sweets. Orinda Books will be on-site to sell copies of the book. This free event in sponsored by the Friends of the Lafayette Library.

Author Talk & Book Signing - Monday, August 22 @ 2:00PM - 4:00PM

At the Clarke Historical Museum, Eureka, CA, Debbie spoke about her recent book, Dancing in Their Light: A Daughter's Unfinished Memoir, which tells the story of “a proud daughter” of immigrant parents, growing up and performing in her family’s renowned Polynesian nightclub, and the legacy of her family’s many contributions to the American cultural and international scientific landscape – from moo shu pork to NASA’s ‘vomit comet.’

 

Orinda books - Saturday, June 4 @ 2:00pm

Debbie is an advocate for independent bookstores and was delighted to partner with Orinda Books (Orinda, CA) to talk about her book. In addition to reading excerpts of Dancing in Their Light, Debbie entered into a fun and lively exchange with the audience. You can purchase a copy at the event through Orinda Books directly.
